NERIST Student gets invite to watch moon landing of Chandrayaan-2 with PM Modi at ISRO

Tejashwini Gajurel a student of class VIII of Kendriya Vidyalaya, NERIST, Nirjuli has been selected to join the  Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for witnessing the moon landing of Chandrayaan-2, live at the ISRO Bengaluru, Karnataka on 7th September 2019.

She is selected on the basis of her excellent performance  in the Space Quiz 2019 competition held on www.mygov.in recently.

The Department of Space, Indian Research Space Organisation (ISRO), had started an online quiz to increase awareness about its space programme which was conducted from August 10 to August 25. The quiz could only be taken by schoolchildren from classes VIII to X.

Tejashwini  received a mail from “contests@mygov.in” on August 28 informing her about her selection and invitation.

Tejashwini Gajurel a student of class VIII of Kendruya Vidyalaya, NERIST, Nirjuli  said, “I took part in this quiz on August 15 I am excited to visit ISRO and witness the moon landing of Chandrayaan-2.”

In the quiz, a total of 10 questions were to be answered in a span of 10 minutes but Tejashwini  claims that she did it in under nine minutes and score 95% marks.

Talking to Arunachal24, over telephone  Dr. Binay Singh, Professor, Department of Forestry, North Eastern Regional Institute  of Science & Technology (NERIST),  said that ” Tejashwini’s achievement has brought a glory not only to the KV NERIST but also to whole NERIST family. “

Ms. Tejashwini is daughter of Dr. P. R. Gajurel of NERIST and Dr. Kabita Upadhyai of Arunadaya University.
