National Cadet Corps (NCC) installed its new Unit at Kaziranga University

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) officially installed the new 51 Assam AIR (T) SQN NCC unit at Kaziranga University on the 9th of August, 2017.

The Unit comprises of 25 cadets from among the University students, who were selected after a meticulous selection process. The cadets, who have shown enthusiastic interest, will work towards the completion of the ‘C’ Certificate, the highest offered by the NCC at this level. This 3 year course includes weekly training sessions, along with various camps every semester.

The orientation programme for the University’s first NCC cadets was held in the campus in the presence of Group Commander, NCC (Air Force) M.K Sharma and his team on the 9th of August. The Unit was welcomed by Maj. Gen. Sukesh Rakshit, Dean, Outreach and Projects, Kaziranga University, and Mr. Jaspal Singh, who are the Coordinators of this programme. It was attended by the Director of Kaziranga University, Ms. Rainy Khetan, Registrar of the University, the Deans of the various schools, Faculty members and the Cadets.

This is the first time that the NCC has installed a unit in a private university in this region, aiming to provide for the development of character, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
