Arunachal polls: Taba Thomas resigns from INC, gets ticket from JDS

Long-time Congress member and one of the contenders for MLA seat in 13-Itanagar constituency, Taba Thomas today resigned from the primary membership from the party after he was denied party ticket and joined Janata Dal (Secular) in a mass joining programme at his Tarajuli residence of Borum area.

The INC party has fielded Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA), president, Yumlam Achung to contest from Itanagar for the coming assembly polls.

Thomas while interacting with media person here at joining function held here Tarajoli  said that development of infrastructure, roads communication and education will be the three main points on his agenda.

He also said that he is not disheartened at being overlooked for INC party ticket despite his dedicated services to party for more than decades.

He also said that the constant encouragement, moral support given by the public encourages him to contest the election.

“It was not my choice but it is the decision of public who despite the denial of INC ticket never gave up on me and my vision,” he asserted.

However JDS sources said that Taba Thomas have been given JDS party ticket to contest from Itanagar (ST) assembly constituency where sitting MLA Techi Kaso will contest from JDU party who have filled his nomination today. The other candidates are former MLA KIpa Babu from BJP, IMWA President from INC, advocate turned politician Techi Tolu from PPA party
