Mob attacked former Minister Jarkar Gamlin, car damaged, driver assaulted, case registered at Kamba PS.
Former minister Jarkar Gamlin and his wife were reportedly attacked by a mob on Monday night at around 10:30 pm at Kamba under West Siang district, when they were visiting their relative’s home for dinner. The angry mob physically assaulted Gamlin’s driver and damaged the car.
West Siang Superintendent of Police Jummar Basar, has informed that the timely intervention of the police helped in dispersing the mob from the scene. He further said that an FIR lodged by the driver has been registered and an investigation is currently on.
“The police team had conducted raids at nearby villages last night and is presently also carrying out raids to nab the culprits involved in the attack,” said the SP adding that more details can be obtained once the attackers are arrested.
Meanwhile, brother of Jarkar and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from 27 Liromoba Jarpum Gamlin has in a statement through a social media platform strongly condemned the incident. “I strongly condemn the mob-attack on my elder brother/ former minister Jarkar Gamlin and his wife who went over to a relative’s home for dinner at Kamba.
Physical assault on the driver and damage to the car should have been avoided. Three FIRs have been launched and I demand registration of all three FIRs and immediate arrest of the identified ring leaders including Nyamo Karbak brother of BJP candidate from 27 Liromoba Assembly constituency, Nyamar Karbak. Couple of days ago, this same mob of around 30-40 drunk youths attempted to man-handle me at Kamki and Hipin Karbak villages,” Jarpum stated.
