AAPDA PRABANDHAN: Indian Army at the forefront in synergising flood relief drills in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh
An elaborate exercise on disaster management, aptly titled, ‘Aapda Prabandhan’, involving all stake holders was conducted at HQs Gajraj Corps today. The exercise held under the directions of Lt Gen AS Bedi, YSM, VSM, GOC, Gajraj Corps, set the stage for commencement of annual drills and procedures related to the flood relief operations in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, in an eventuality.
It aimed to ensure collective mutual benefit of all participants, from the experience gained by Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF and others over the years, in providing relief and succor to the distressed population during times of floods and other natural calamities.
The various stake holders of disaster management brainstormed a number of likely situations and their responses involving different types of natural calamities.
Conducted live using video conferencing facility, over six hours, Aapda Prabandhan, focused on coordination between all formations of Gajraj Corps, Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Sonitpur District Disaster Management Authority, Border Roads Organization(Vartak) and 1 NDRF Battalion.
The representatives expressed satisfaction and confidence over this professional exercise in dealing with any natural calamity.
