RGU need to upgraded into centre of excellence, sought support form stake holders-VC.



The lone central university of state ‘Rajiv Gandhi University’ (RGU) need to be upgraded with full academic atmosphere with support of required infrastructure and facilities for students and staffs in the campus. said RGU Vice Chancellor  Prof. Saket Kushwaha today.

He was interacting to media at RGU campus today, said there are lots of problems with regards to infrastructure, security, up gradation of department, staff’s quarters, starting of various department and  creating avenue for business  and employment which need to be addressed first.

Prof. Saket, said that on his joining to the RGU campus he have visited almost all the department of the campus,  hostels of boys and girls  and interacted with the HODs, faculty and students and understand the problems and have formulated several policy and programmes with administrative officers and administration.

Since his joining, Prof. Saket  said that he have meeting with students union, teaching and non teaching staffs and discussed for beatification of campus, issue related with boundary wall, land encroachment issue.

He said that he is formulating a plan for starting of innovation centre for skill development /fishery/medicinal plants and starting of new department in Agriculture/Horticulture/Nano science/law college, pharmacy, strategic studies.

Revamping of International students and beginning of placement cell in the campus so that the students who passes out from there get opportunity in job. There is a need of strengthening of alumni association who would support the passed out student in getting scholarship and other facilities even if they are in education life.

He said in between a month of his joining he meet the Governor and brief of all activities of the RGU and he wanted that the result of the university are declared in time without delay and several other suggestion.

He visited the MHRD Prakash Javadekar  and sought support from the ministry for promotion of the campus and development of the institution into temple of learning with an educational atmosphere.

He said a proposal is being prepared with support of data and others for up-gradation of the RGU campus in all respect. The new proposal shall have the provision for additional fund for campus development, starting of new department of language of French, German, Spanish, Thai, Chinese etc, creating endowment fund for donors for instating of scholarship and building, creating of more professional courses under self financing mode, addition of no course to enrich students, beginning of provision for students to earn while learning at RGU in regards to computer repairing and few other jobs, creation of post, promotion of several officials which are lying stagnant for last twenty years. Providing of arrears as par 7th CPC and proposals was delayed from the RGU itself. More hostels building for boys and girls, more residential quarters for teaching and non teaching staffs, welfare measures for the campus faculty and others.

So far there are accommodation for twelve hundreds students in the campus. he said.

We have immediate proposal for renovation of all 10 hostel building and few department for which we have fund of 1 crore which would be utilised with few beautification work would be done soon.

On being asked about the land encroachment and protection of land of RGU campus and its boundary wall issue, VC said that it is a grave issue, around 64 acre of land is missing from the actual allotment for the purpose of university which was allotted in way back in 1986. There was allotment of around 302 acres for the purpose in Doimukh circle and so far we have been able to complete only 10 Kilometre of RCC boundary wall. The issue is lying pending with the district administration and hope for a resolution.

He said that running an educational institution specially a central university is tough job and need support from all stake holders of the society for its development and smooth functioning.
