Arunachal Elections: Magistrate on election duty assaulted in Koloriang

The district electoral officer (DEO) cum district magistrate of Kurung Kumey district has ordered an magisterial inquiry against a BJP candidate of 21 Koloriang assembly constituency and his supporters for allegedly assaulting a magistrate on duty.
Santosh Kumar Rai, in a notification issued on Saturday, ordered a magisterial inquiry into the “physical assault” of Jill Gyamar, magistrate who was performing election duty near Leel village in Sangram circle of the district on March 24 at 2 PM.
The order has been issued against BJP candidate Lokam Tassar, his personal security officer and 10-15 supporters, who had allegedly attacked the magistrate on 24 March in the presence of the circle officer and the district magistrate, officials said.
”The probe shall be conducted by Sangram SDO Otem Jamoh and submitted the report to the DEO by 2 April positively,” the order said.
In a complaint to the chief election officer here, Jill informed that he has been serving as district sports officer (DSO) at Koloriang in Kurung Kumey district. he was appointed as magistrate on duty for flying squad no c for ensuing simultaneous election since March 20. He was directed to accompany with DEO toward Sangram to conduct checking of each and every vehicle on road.
During the checking the team reached near Leel village and meet convoy of BJP MLA candidate Lokam Tassar and the team began to start checking. Suddenly Lokam Tassar and his supporters abused him without any reason, attack and assaulted him and snatched away I card, blazer coat and kicked and punched him’. He said.
The magistrate claimed that he informed the accused that he was performing magistrate duty under the instruction and direction of the Kurung Kumey DEO, but was assaulted in return. claimed in the complaint.
Seeking immediate intervention of the Election Commission, Jill also claimed that he has been receiving threats and sought a transfer from Koloriang.
Threatening are still receiving for dire consequences and it may be valid reason they may attack me again and is a threat for my life and passing under tremendous pressure and mentally agony and seeking for immediate transfer from Kurung Kumey district to Papum Pare as a special case.
Further Jill said that he have also filled FIR at Koloring Police station in this regard on March 25 last.
