Arunachal: Students should make Swami Vivekananda their icon- Chowna Mein
The students should make Swami Vivekananda their icon to lead an ideal life, says Arunachal Pradesh Dy CM, Chowna Mein while addressing the concluding function of the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address at Ramakrishna Mission.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended the concluding function of the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address at Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar in Deomali today. He was accompanied by Minister PHE & WS, Wangki Lowang.
The day was observed by Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar to commemorate the historical speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda in the world religious conference on September 11, 1893.
Mein said the teachings of Swami Vivekananda were more relevant today than when he addressed the World Religious conference at Chicago and gave call for ‘universal brotherhood’.
“Today is a golden lettered day of Indian History. On this very day, the whole world discovered a new India – mesmerizing and enchanting, enabling and all-encompassing as Swami Vivekananda rose to speak at the world parliament of religions in Chicago in 1893,” said Mein.
While applauding the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission for its service in education & health sector besides taking up relief works, Mein assured the swamijis that as they add on to their responsibilities for the welfare of the people of Arunachal, the state government will strive more to increase its support.
“We want Ramakrishna Mission to provide all the best possible so as our children become the best without needing to go elsewhere. I am extremely glad to know that this year’s topper for class X CBSE – Jirdam Gameh is from Ramakrishna Mission School, Narottam Nagar. I congratulate you all and hope it will continue to produce the best,” said Mein.
While sharing his experiences with the students, Mein said they should make Swami Vivekananda their icon to lead an ideal life. He stressed on the students and youths to follow Swami Vivekananada’s teachings which would keep them close to their cultural roots.
Mein termed the students as human resources of the state and requested them to work hard to bring about qualitative changes in society. He also called upon the students to strive hard to fulfill their aims and aspirations. He also advised the students to inculcate the values like will-power, inquisitiveness, discipline, creativity, self-confidence etc to overcome all challenges in their life.
On the 3-point memorandum submitted by Secretary Ramakrishna Mission Narottam Nagar, DCM assured that he would look into their demands and discuss the matters with concerned authorities.
Lowang in his address, stressed on adopting the path of righteousness shown by Swami Vivekanada to have better tomorrow and shared his experience with the youth.
Secretary Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Itanagar, Revered Maharaj Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission School Narottam Nagar Revered Swami Achyuteshananda, Principal of Ramakrishna Mission School Narottam Nagar Brahmachari Tadatmachaitanya also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein accompanied by Minister PHE & WS, Wangki Lowang inaugurated the Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya.
They also paid their obeisance to Lord Buddha statue in school campus and offered flowers to Holy trio amidst Vedic chanting by monastic.
Mein and Lowang also gave away the prizes to the students who participated in the various competitions organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar.
