Assam- Huge cache of contraband seized from vehicle on Air Force duty

Huge cache of banned contraband substance ‘ganja’ were recovered on Tuesday from a vehicle on Air Force duty at Karigaon in Kokrajhar district of Assam along the National highway 31©.
The goods mobile carrier vehicle barring registration No NL 01 L 1970 was travelling from Air Force Station, Upper Shillong, Meghalaya to Air Force station, New Delhi carrying household items of Air Marsha llR Nambiar when it was seized by Kokrajhar police at Karigaon in Kokrajhjar.
Confirming the news, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said that based on inputs, a search operation was carried out and recovered 19 numbers of contraband packets. Singh said the search operation was carried out in presence of Magistrate and two officials from Air Force.
The ganja weighing 258 kg is stated to be worth lakhs of rupees in market. Two persons including the driver Anil Kumar and one Air force employee were detained. The handyman of the vehicle managed to escape. Singh said they have been extra careful in carrying out the search operation as it involved senior officer of Air force. The senior police officer said they are looking into various angles if any Air force official is involved. Investigation is on.
