District Programme Officer(NTCP) Dr(Mrs) Urgen Lhamu conveyed her gratitude to CDPO Tawang for collaborating Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara with Rashtriya Poshan Maah rally. She further informed the general public that India is having the second highest number of TB patients and before introduction of RNTCP programme there was death of one TB patient every one and half minutes which has now been reduced to five minutes. Tobacco users have higher chances of getting TB. She further said that TB has cure but HIV cannot be cured, but one should complete the course of medicines otherwise there is chances of developing drug resistant TB.
DMO Tawang Dr. Wangdi Lama spoke on balanced diet, and said your food should be colourful it must include different vegetables, and requested CDPO Tawang to keep a convergence meeting soon wherein the Gynaecologist will be invited and ASHA and Anganwadi workers will be given education on Breast cancer and menstrual hygiene. He also informed about Health and wellness centres in Tawang and said Govt wants to prevent the diseases rather than curing them through these wellness centres.
