Arunachal: Rashtriya Poshan Maah Rally in Tawang

Rashtriya Poshan Maah Rally was organized today from CDPO office Tawang to General parade Ground in which more than 350 ASHA and Anganwadi workers participated. The rally was conducted as a part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrion Month) and to create awareness on importance of Nutrition rich diet. During this rally slogans and awareness on Tuberculosis(TB) and its preventive measures and treatment through DOTS were also given.

Speaking on the occasion to the participants and general public CDPO Tawang Dondup Pema said, we have successfully conducted our campaign on Nutrition and its importance at Village, Block and circle levels in our district, and appreciated the cooperation and participation given by ASHA and Anganwadi workers to make it successful. She further announced the names of best Anganwadi workers who took extra efforts to enroll the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matrutwa Vanadana Yojana (PMMVY) and felicitated them with sanitary napkin packets through DMO Tawang Dr. Wangdi Lama.

She further informed the general public that India is having the second highest number of TB patients and before introduction of RNTCP programme there was death of one TB patient every one and half minutes which has now been reduced  to five minutes. Tobacco users have higher chances of getting TB. She further said that TB has cure but HIV cannot be cured, but one should complete the course of medicines otherwise there is chances of developing drug resistant TB.

DMO Tawang Dr. Wangdi Lama spoke on balanced diet, and said your food should be colourful it must include different vegetables, and requested CDPO Tawang to keep a convergence meeting soon wherein the Gynaecologist will be invited and ASHA and Anganwadi workers will be given education on Breast cancer and menstrual hygiene. He also informed about Health and wellness centres in Tawang and said Govt wants to prevent the diseases rather than curing them through these wellness centres.
