Arunachal gets Rs 569.41 Cr from GST during FY 2018-19- informed Chowna Mein

The collection for FY 2018-19 from GST was 569.41 Cr and witnessed almost 111% growth in comparison with previous 9 months of the Financial Year, informed Dy Chief minister Chowna Mein.

There is a growth in revenue collection in the State since implementation of GST. The collection for FY 2018-19 from GST was 569.41 Cr and witnessed almost 111% growth in comparison with previous 9 months of the Financial Year, informed Dy Chief minister Chowna Mein who is also the finance Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

GST was implemented from 01/07/2017 throughout the country. The introduction of Goods & Services Tax in the State of Arunachal Pradesh has been a positive revenue event for the state, Meni said.

Addressing a press conference Chowna Mein informed that ” Arunachal Pradesh is one of the few States to record positive growth since implementation of GST and so is not entitled to receive compensation from Govt of India. The other States are Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Sikkim but Arunachal Pradesh topped the list in the Current Financial Year 2019-20 (April-August) too with collection of Rs. 304.74 Cr”.

Mein further informed that the most striking feature of GST Implementation in the State of Arunachal Pradesh has been an exponential growth in the number of registered dealers. Sustained efforts for widening of tax base in the form of Taxpayer Outreach Programs, Market Surveys etc. were made, which have resulted in a 140%growth in the asessee base .

The tax net has considerably increased and therefore effective capturing of transactions of the said assessees i.e. deepening of tax base, shall yield an increase in revenue.
