Arunachal: CALSOM observes it’s Silver Jubilee Celebration

The Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Cultural & Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) has been commemorated with traditional fervor and zeal here at the Amik Ringya Cultural Hall today.

Simple innocent yet colorful looking Mishmi community draped in their rich traditional attire thronged the venue in large scale where senior Patron members gracefully participated cutting across all political difference and status.

MP Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister Mukut Mithi as a chief guest extends deep gratitude to the CALSOM member both present and past who immensely contributed to brought up the CALSOM a highest apex body of Mishmi.

“Change is inevitable; we should accept the change according to modernisation but our ethos, ritual, dialogue, handicraft & handloom and etc have to be preserved jealously.

The CALSOM instrumental in preserving and promoting Mishmi cultural is laudable and need to be done more. The development of script is historic.

The younger general has vital task to shoulder the responsibility”, he hopes. Mithi also unfurled CALSOM flag, witnessed traditional hunting practices of the tribe and inaugurated 40 seated CALSOM conference hall and additional CALSOM’s school classroom.

Realizing the richness of the culture, Gauri Shankar Commandant 9th ITBP Lohitpur as a guest of honour said Arunachal has rich diversity of culture however the unique cultural heritage of the Mishmi tribe is exceptionally vibrant. “CALSOM should strive hard to take the community in long way”, he hopes.

Dr Mohesh Chai Minister Agriculture as Patron lauds long journey of the CALSOM and suggests mandatory reform in the system through collective consensus. He also advises the youth to be more serious to safeguard and uphold the ethos which is in threat due to fast modernisation and westernisation. The minister also discloses the recent government decision to introduce tribal language as third language in school.

Earlier in his welcome speech, Buglelum Tega who completed his tenure as CALSOM chairman also highlighted the activities of his term. He spoke about the up and down, both good and bad in retrospection.

“During my term I did my best including distribution of relief to fire victims, build up CALSOM conference hall and extended additional classroom of CALSOM school, pursued fund to construct Auditorium Hall at Tamla – DU ground which is already tendered and ready for construction, worked to develop Mishmi script and etc”, he says.

He also hopes new incumbent to contribute in spirit and dedication to take the Mishmi society in the peak of success.

On the occasion, CALSOM felicitated former Minister Sobeng Tayang, Former chief minister Kalikho Pul, former minister Kapriso Krong, former CALSOM founder Kekelum Pul, Lapalum Kri retired chief engineer and former two termed CALSOM chairman, late Tankakso Chai, Satyanarayanan social worker, Dr Rajendra Babu Assistant Professor IGG College, Rohinso Krisikro social worker, Jaweplu Chai first Judge from Mishmi respectively for their exemplary service extended to the Mishmi community.

Colorful traditional and cultural dances, modern dance from little student of Nimkay Vidya Niketan Tezu and traditional chorus song led by Sokhep Kri mesmerised participates in the occasion.

Besides, Dasanglu Pul MLA Hayuliang, former MLA Karikho Kri, former minister Kapriso Krong, Kekelum Pul former CALSOM founder, Lapalum Kri retired CE PHED, Duyu Ribya SDO and DW Thungon SP Lohit also took part in the silver jubilee.
