One soldier died while three others injured in an encounter happened in the early hours of Saturday morning in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.

An Army soldier was killed and three others injured in an encounter with suspected insurgents near Lomsong village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.
“The encounter happened in the early hours of Saturday morning. One soldier died while three others have been injured,” said Rohit Meena, superintendent of police, Longding.
Army Sources said , Lance Naik Sukhein Singh was killed and three others were injured in the encounter between the troops of Army’s 19 Sikh regiment and NSCN (IM) rebels at Yanu basti in Longding district of Arunahal Pradesh.
The injured jawans have been identified as Jashbir Singh, Lance naik Hardip Singh and naik subedar Yashbindar Singh.
“The militants opened fire indiscriminately killing one jawan on the spot and injuring three others. The injured were shifted to a base hospital,” said a source.
The insurgents were suspected to belong to the Naga insurgent outfit, the NSCN(I-M), Meena said, adding that the Army has launched a cordon and search operation.
NSCN(I-M) is in a ceasefire in Nagaland and in talks with Government of India.
Defence sources confirmed “at 5.30 am there was a firefight in Longding with insurgents. We lost a jawan and three others have been injured”.
In a separate incident on Thursday, an NSCN (IM) cadre was killed in an encounter with security forces at Longkai Village in the district on Thursday morning.
Two AK-56 assault rifles, one Lathod launcher and a large quantity of ammunitions were seized from the site of the encounter.
In another operation by the Khonsa Battalion, a cadre of the NSCN (Khaplang) was apprehended from the Chasa village in Tirap district on Thursday morning. The rebel was identified as Laingen Wangpan (22), a lance corporal of the outfit.
