A case of molestation of two minor girls at Yupia came to the fore recently and the accused has reportedly been absconding.
According to an FIR lodged at Itanagar Women Police station on 14 March, the minor girls, who are residing at her sister-in-law’s house in Yupia for their studies, were molested.
A case (No 10/2019 U/s 354/354-A/ of IPC read with section 10 and 12 of POSCO Act 2012) has been registered with the Itanagar WPS.
The FIR further alleged that the accused had showed blue film and touched private parts while molesting them in two different occasions. The accused also warned them of dire consequences if the matter is disclosed to anybody, the complainant said in the FIR.
‘The matter came to limelight when the victims went their native home after completing their annual examination on 8 March,’ a relative of the victims said in a release.
The release said that the accused has been absconding since the FIR was lodged and his anticipatory bail applications were rejected by the courts. The parents of the victims sought cooperation of the civil societies and NGOs in tracing the whereabouts of the accused for early arrest.
