The Arunachal Youth Organisation (AYO) today demanded chief minister to ensure free and fair tender process against the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club here, AYO convenor Lobsang Palden informed that the tender process against PMGSY in East Kameng, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Lohit, Papum Pare, Tawang, Upper Siang, Upper Subansiri and West Siang, amounting to Rs 70.64 crore is being taken up.
Palden said that the owing to various corrupt practices during the tendering process, the quality of such important roads gets highly undermined as PMGSY roads are the lifeline of any given village.
Asking chief minister to personally monitor tendering process for the PMGSY roads, the AYO stated that many genuine contractors are sidelined during the tendering process which should be avoided at any cost.
Further, the organization demanded the state government to hand over the Trans-Arunachal Highway compensation disbursement scam in the stretch from Potin to Bopi, to the CBI for a fair and free inquiry.
The AYO has expressed lack of confidence in the state’s agencies to deliver justice given that the individuals involved in the scandal are high profile people.
Stating that the deprived beneficiaries deserve justice in the matter, the organization said that re-verification of the stretch in Ziro-II area have been completed but they should continue to complete the re verification of the entire stretch from Potin to Bopi and demanded for arrest of all accused who are involved in the multi crore TAH scam.
