In wake of heavy rains over parts of Assam, flood situation still continues to remain gloomy. By July 29, the Monsoon Trough will once again start shifting to North that would lead to the revival of Monsoon activities over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
Hence, we can say that the northeastern states will continue to witness good rain and thundershowers for the rest of July.
However Rain deficiency levels in Northeast India have improved wherein Assam and Meghalaya are just deficit by one percent, Arunachal Pradesh by five percent whereas Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are rain deficient by 15%. In the past 24 hours, Pasighat recorded 38.7 mm of rains while Cherrapunjee witnessed 114.8 mm of rainfall with 9.5 mm of rains in Shillong.
