Police crack the sensational murder of lady at Hawa Camp. Police arrested accused who is also a woman and recovered one .25 bore pistol with 1 live round from her house. The accused identified as Mrs Taku Mompa, informed Capital SP Tumme Amo.
In a quick crackdown of a murder case, Capital Police have arrested a local woman suspected to be the main accused involved in killing of a woman who was found burnt beyond recognition at Hawa Camp in Kimin circle on 16 May.
The completely clueless case of murder and burning of a young lady aged around 18 as reported from Hawa Camp on 16 May has been solved with arrest of the main suspect with one NP .25 bore pistol with 1 live round recovered from her house. Informing this Capital SP Tumme Amo said that through link and various inputs received from Assam Police and on verification by our sources, we located the house of the suspect yesterday.
While acting on his direction SDPO Nlg & OC Nirjuli today arrested accused and interrogated. Assam police were also asked to come with all relatives and OC Kimin too had joined us at Nirjuli today.
On joint interrogation, she revealed that she has hidden one .25 pistol at her house and accordingly it was seized by us today evening. Two mobile sets have also been seized from her, SP said.

Tana Reeta Basumatary, the daughter of the deceased, who is married to a local tribal person staying at Chiputa, her husband and other relatives have identified the deceased as Late Alef Basumatary of Milanpur village, Dist Biswanath Charali, opposite Kokoila, Assam. They identified the deceased from her ear rings, hair clip, sandals and a scar mark on her left toe.
As per the investigation report, the deceased was known to the accused (Alef Basumatary) for about 1 year and she had brought one Rani Narzary of the same village Milanpur on 6/5/2019 to work as maid at the house of the accused. Narzary was staying with her two kids, one daughter aged around 5 years and a son around 4 years at house of the accused, aged about 47 years.
Reportedly, the accused had kept the 2 kids away from their mother which led to argument between her & Rani Narzary. Later on 12/5/2019 Rani Narzary left for her village leaving her kids. And on 13/5/19, she asked the deceased to help her get back her two kids from the accused.
And since on May 15, Alef Basumatary , who has gone for resolving the issue with the accused, went missing and her mobile phone switched off.
SP, Amo while briefing the media at Banderdewa Police Station said that we are trying to get all information as any other person are also involved in the case. The empty cartridge which recovered from the place of occurrence also match the live cartridge one recovered from the accused house at Nirjuli.
