SHILLONG- The Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh participated in 11th edition of International Tourism Mart 2023 held at Shillong from 21st to 23rd November 2023. The contingency comprised of Director, K N Damo, Deputy Director, Smt. Bengia Manna Sonam, Tourism officers, tourism stakeholders and artisans headed by Secretary, Tourism, Swapnil M Naik.
The International Tourism Mart is an annual event organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India in one of the North East States on rotation basis, with an objective to provide a bigger platform to the Northeast stakeholders for potential buyer & seller, and end consumer to have face-to-face interaction, network, educate and conduct business mutually both nationally and overseas as well.
The event was attended by 28 International delegations from 18 countries and 50 domestic buyers from different parts of the country successfully participated in the Mart.
The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shripad Yasho Naik in presence of Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister, Meghalaya and Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Smt. V. Vidhyavati.
Arunachal Pradesh exhibition stall showcased various handicrafts and handloom products. The artisans from Changlang and Lower Dibang Valley district exhibited live demonstrations of art of making cardamom mats and War Coats respectively. Intricate beads work from Longding district was also displayed.
Shri Swapnil Naik, Secretary Tourism made presentation on various aspects of Tourism in Arunachal Pradesh. Different sessions and panel discussions on Reshaping North East Through strategic connectivity, Travel for life and sustainable development of destinations in Northeast, Adventure Tourism – Way forward etc.
Special session with the district collectors of Vibrant villages of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim was conducted on the Second day of the Mart.
A huge no. of International and domestic counterparts enquired and showed interest in collaborating during B2B meeting where Tour operators and homestay owners from Arunachal Pradesh actively participated.
