Taking cognizance of the deteriorating conditions of the roads along the Trans-Arunachal Highway from Potin to Pangin, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called an urgent meeting of the Chief Engineers, PWD (Highway), Toli Basar, Chief Engineer, PWD (Survey, Investigation, Design & Planning), Atop Lego and Executive Engineer, PWD (Highway), B Pelen in his Civil Secretariat Office here today.

After thorough discussion with the officers,  DCM instructed the Chief Engineer (Highway) for immediate re-tendering for repair & maintenance works of the Phase-I (97 km) from Pai-Pine Groove, Daporijo-Dumporijo & Bame-Pangin and also tendering of the Phase-II (254 km) from Ziro-Daporijo and Dumporijo-Bame including road under Kamle District (137.315km).

He, however, said to take up the repair and maintenance works in places where the roads are in very bad shape to make it at least convenient for traffic movement as this portion of road from Potin to Pangin is already taken over by the MoRT&H and will be re-constructed by the Ministry soon.

As the working season is running out, he asked the department to complete the tendering process within this month, so that the repair & maintenance work can be completed before the on-set of monsoon.

He also asked the department to carry out repair and maintenance of the bridge over Subansiri river in Upper Subansiri District which was reported to be in bad shape.

When asked by the Deputy Chief Minister on inordinate delay in carrying out repair & maintenance work, Basar informed that the NIT for the works were earlier invited on March 9 last and technical bids opened on March 28 last but due to non-responsiveness, the Tenders were cancelled. He, however, informed that the re-tendering process is in progress and said to complete it within this month.
