Arunachal: Lummer Dai statue unveiled in Siluk Village

A statue of doyen of Arunachal Literature late Lummer Dai is unveiled in his birthplace Siluk Village in Mebo area by Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society president Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi in presence huge gathering today.

Siluk Welfare Kebang with the help of APLS East Siang Branch, organised the 78th birth anniversary of late Dai at Siluk Musup Hall. The meeting was presided over by Bodong Yirang, President of APLS East Siang branch.

Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society President Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi graced the occasion as the chief guest and exhorted the audience to follow the path of late Lumner Dai, who was not only a great writer, but also a very honest officer and never compromised with his principles of high integrity. Thongchi also requested the school management committee of Siluk UP School to initiate the process of naming that school after late Lummer Dai.

In the same meeting the Luminous Lummer Dai Literary Award was conferred to Dr. Jogendra Nath, an academician and noted writer in English and Assamese who served in Arunachal Pradesh as lecturer of JN College Pasighat and Bomdila College and later on joined as Principal of Rangfrah College, Changlang and register of Arunachal University. In his acceptance speech he dwelt in length about the works of late Lummer Dai.

In the afternoon, the Gramlok Programme of Sahitya Akademy was held where 15 poets from local area recited their poems in various laguages conducted by group captain (Retired) Mohonto Panging, general secretary of APLS East Siang Branch. However it is the first Gramlok Programme of Sahitya Akademy in the whole North-East region. Batem Pertin, general secretary of APLS, Dr. Pushpa Gogoi, Sukafa awardee and great oriental scholer, Bikash Baruah, general secretary Nemeswar Kardong Vice President of Axom Sahitya Sabha Dhemaji District, Olen Megu Damin, elder brother and other relatives of late Lummer Dai, many officers from Pasighat are amongst other attended the function.
