Arunachal: Legal adoption ensures hassle free child adoption: WCD Director

KOLORIANG- The Women and Child Development (WCD) Director Tokmem Pertin Loyi appealed the people of Kurung Kumey District to adopt children legally during an ‘Awareness Campaign on Legal Adoption’ conducted at DC’s conference hall here recently.
The Director, who was on one-week tour to District to participate at the ongoing celebration of National Adoption Awareness Month, said adopting legal means to adopt children saves the adopting parents from legal complicacies in future.

The WCD Director explained the concepts of adoption, authorities and agencies for adoption, who can be adopted, which can adopt, age criteria of prospective parents, and punitive provisions.
Welcoming the Director and the team members from Hq. Itanagar to the District, Kurung Kumey WCD Deputy Director Kago Maya Gyati said no WCD Director has till date reached a remote and far-flung District like Kurung Kumey.
‘We are very glad our Director madam and the team has chosen the District to take part at the Adoption Awareness Month, and this visit will surely remain as a source of inspiration and encouragement to WCD and ICDS functionaries of the District’, said Maya.

At Koloriang, the team visited the One-Stop Centre, Child Help Line and Women Help Line centers.
The team also visited Sarli, Parsiparlo, Sangram, Chambang and Palin ICDS Projects. In course of the field visits, the team attended the legal adoption awareness campaigns and inspected the ICDS Projects, Anganwadi Centres and the Crèches of the respective ICDS projects of the District.
