Guwahati
Based on specific information, the troops of Red Horns Division of Gajraj Corps and Assam Police along with other CAPF launched an operation on 07 April, in the dense Manas Reserve Forest in Chirang District, which lasted over 72 hours in adverse weather conditions.
In this meticulously planned operation, on 09 April in the early morning, a recently abandoned NDFB(S) camp was found alongwith huge cache of arms which included one Self Loading Rifle, one Carbine, three Single Barrel Rilfes, two Hand Grenades and large quantity of ammunition. In addition, items of survival to include ration, tarpaulins, water cans, ropes, bags and solar panels have also been recovered.
These items may have been used by terrorists of NDFB(S) who are suspected to be part of Bidai group and have been on the run since the December 2014 massacre.
The successful operation is a result of sustained efforts of security forces operating in synergy in the area. The recovery of arms and ammunition has dealt a severe blow to already dwindling strength of G. Bidai and his associates. This will go a long way in enhancing the safety of the civilians who have long been harassed by the terrorists, enhancing the moral ascendency maintained by the Security Forces.
