National Mathematics Day organised at Arunachal Pradesh science Centre, Itanagar to mark the birth anniversary of Indian Genius S. Ramanujan.

National Mathematics Day and Maths Mela- 2018, organised at Arunachal Pradesh science Centre, Itanagar to mark the birth anniversary of Indian Genius S. Ramanujan. The programme was organised by A.P. State Council for Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology.
The programme was catalysed & supported by NCSTC and Vigyan Prasar, DST, GoI, New Delhi, and witnessed by More than 200 students along with teachers from twin capital complex.
Dr Sahin Ahmed, Head, Department of Mathematics, Rajiv Gandhi University, Dr. K.K. Rai, Head, Department of Mathematics, DN Govt. College, Dr. Bhim Sharma and Dr. Shuvam Sen, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Tezpur University, attended the programme as a Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Resource Person respectfully.
In his Inaugural address Dr. Ahmed, elaborate the importance of mathematics in day to day life and urges the teachers and students to study mathematics as a fun. Mathematics is subject which increases the analytical power of mind and lays the foundation of future success.
The life history of S. Ramanujan and his contribution was explained by Dr. K.K. Rai.
Resource person Dr. Bhim Sharma and Dr. Shuvam Sen through their demonstration beautifully explain the methods of multiplication, Magic Numbers, magic of Square, Numbers Pyramid, Taxi Number, etc.
The prizes to the winners of essay writing competition on the topic “Ramanujans Contribution to Mathematics- from the eyes of secondary level students” was distributed during the closing ceremony of the programme. A movie on Ramanujans life was also screened.
