The residents of C-II sector of Itanagar appealed to the district administration and Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) to clean the Indira Gandhi Park ( IG Park ) which has become a mockery of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in state capital.
The locals alleged that “We are the worst affected and sufferers after completion of food festival every year held in the park. Our homes will full of fly and fault smell. we sometime feel vomiting when we open our window after completion of the food festival which concluded on February 23 recently”.
This is the regular phenomena, we have been facing since years, the consequence of the food festivals in the IG Park, Locals alleged.
They alleged that in spite of completion of food festival for more than a week neither administration nor the IMC have clear the garbage. They said that the administration need to workout formula for cleaning of IG Park.
C-II Sector Welfare Committee Chairman Takam Teli said that it is unfortunate that the administration and IMC who are helm of affairs should take a lesson as the local residents have been facing the nuisance for last 5 day and administration is keeping quite rather the IMC vehicles are blowing songs of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
IMC Ward No-10 Councillor Tagru Tadik when contacted said that it is on part of administration to see that the stalls allotted concerned have shouldered their responsibility or not, however he appeal the district administration to clean immediately as lots of complaint from his ward is receiving since starting of the food festival.
Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) Chief Municipal Executive Officer (CMEO) Dr. Olik Taring informed that that allotment for food stalls and all others stalls for celebration of festival of Arunachal and there was some agreement with the stall owners which he is unaware. He even was unaware of such huge garbage in the IG Park and assured to take up with IMC and district administration to clean up immediately.
