The provision that only villages with population of over 250 will be linked under the PMGY needed to be relaxed for border states like Arunachal Pradesh where several villages in border areas had smaller number of inhabitants, Tapir Gao, MP from Arunachal(East) raised this voice in Parliament .
During the debate on the budget , Tapir informed the house that, villages remained unconnected and this had led to a lot of privation for people in far flung areas. They were forced to migrate to larger habitations and this meant their villages were at risk of becoming “no man’s land” of sorts and vulnerable to incursions, he added.
He gives the example of Vijaynagar and other remote villages bordering China where the cost of one bag cement is Rs 7000/– and one Kg Salt is Rs 200/–.
