Arunachal: Umang CMTC Inaugurated at Namsai
The Umang Community Managed Training Centre was inaugurated at Namsai as part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen SHG-led capacity building and women’s empowerment

NAMSAI- The Umang Community Managed Training Centre (CMTC), established under the Umang Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd., was inaugurated at Namsai on Sunday, marking a key step in strengthening community-led capacity building and women’s empowerment in the district.
The inauguration coincided with the national mega-event “Samriddh Didi se Samriddh Rashtra: Ganatantra Diwas Abhinandan Samaroh, 2026”, during which 199 Community Managed Training Centres were launched simultaneously across the country. The centres are part of the Ministry of Rural Development’s 100-day action plan to transform three crore Self-Help Group (SHG) members into Lakhpati Didis under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
The Umang CMTC was inaugurated through a live national webcast by Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, from New Delhi. At the district level, the centre was formally dedicated to the community by Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Namsai, Chau Sujana Namchoom, who attended the programme as Chief Guest in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Namsai, C.R. Khampa.

In his keynote address, Chau Sen Ong Namchoom, District Mission Manager, Roing, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), elaborated on the objectives and functions of the CMTC, describing it as a centre of learning owned, managed and operated by women SHG federations.
He informed that the centre is equipped with accommodation facilities and will extend training services to other districts as well. He outlined the annual action plan, which includes SHG and PLF formation, capacity-building programmes, social and financial inclusion initiatives, health and ICDS-linked interventions, and livelihood promotion across farm and non-farm sectors. He added that all activities are centrally monitored through a Management Information System (MIS). The Umang CMTC is the sixth such centre supported by ArSRLM in Arunachal Pradesh.

Addressing the gathering, ZPC Chau Sujana Namchoom expressed satisfaction over the progress made in women’s empowerment in recent years and called upon SHG members to actively participate in community initiatives, particularly in addressing drug abuse, which he described as a growing concern in the district.
Deputy Commissioner C.R. Khampa lauded the community-managed nature of the centre and acknowledged the increasing confidence among SHG Didis in Namsai district. He noted that around 1,000 SHG members are currently active in the district and stressed the need to expand training opportunities, including exposure visits outside the state. He also encouraged SHGs to explore waste management and waste-to-wealth initiatives and to strengthen enrolment under social security schemes such as PMJJBY, PMSBY and Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana.

Following the national webcast, SHG members watched the Union Minister’s address live. The programme was attended by officials from the Information and Public Relations Department, Board of Directors of Umang MPCS, ArSRLM functionaries, Block Mission Management Unit officials, and community representatives.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Teniang Lokho, Cluster Coordinator, BMMU Namsai, followed by a community lunch. Members of Umang MPCS pledged to utilise the CMTC for sustained livelihood enhancement and economic empowerment of SHG federations in the district.
BASAR- The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Todak Basar Memorial Stadium here at Basar Headquarters. Deputy Commissioner, Leparada, Ms. Himani Meena, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and unfurled the National Flag, marking the formal commencement of the celebrations. The programme witnessed an impressive parade presented by students from various schools, reflecting discipline, unity, and national pride. Addressing the gathering on the auspicious occasion, DC Meena highlighted the various initiatives, achievements, and developmental efforts undertaken to transform Leparada into a model district. She also reiterated the commitment of the district administration towards inclusive growth, good governance, and public welfare.
PASIGHAT- The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal across East Siang district, with Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sonalika Jiwani, addressing at Outdoor Stadium Pasighat ,highlighted the significance of the occasion while also speaking on the district’s significant achievements in the process of infrastructure
transformation , urban governance, livelihood generation, and public service delivery,, health & education towards inclusive and sustainable growth and urged for collective efforts for making the district the one of the best performing in all development sectors, economic & investment hub to meet up the expectations of the citizens and the aspirations and entrepreneurial goals of the youth and the people in general. Padma Shri Yanung Jamoh Lego and Pasighat MLA , Tapi Darang attended as Guest of Honour and Special Guest.
TEZU- In Lohit district. Deputy Commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo unfurled the National Flag as the Chief Guest and took the salute at the ceremonial parade held at the district headquarters. The occasion was attended by MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai, former minister Nakul Chai, former MLA Karikho Kri, senior officers of the Indian Army and ITBP, Superintendent of Police Lohit Thutan Jamba, ZPM Tezu Baplalum Chiba, heads of departments, administrative officers, NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides, students, and a large gathering of the public. After unfurled the Tricolour, DC Kesang Ngurup Damo extended Republic Day greetings to the people of Lohit and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. He recalled the adoption of the Constitution on 26 January 1950 and highlighted the values of democracy, unity, equality and national integrity enshrined in it.
