Arunachal CM Greets people on National Unity Day
In 2014, the Government of India introduced Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with an aim to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has extended best wishes on occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day to be celebrated across the country on October 31st commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel, Khandu said due to the efforts of the Iron Man of India the country was integrated as one entity in the years following India’s independence.
“As one of the founding leaders of the Republic of India he (Sardar Patel) always worked hard to make India a United India (Ek Bharat). To create Shreshth Bharat or Foremost India, he requested people of India to live together. Being the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, he played an important role in the integration of many Indian princely states to make an Indian federation. India as a nation owes Sardar Patel its federal structure,” Khandu observed.

The Chief Minister reminded all that this year, the National Unity Day has a special significance, as it marks the completion of the task of making Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh an integral part of India by abrogating Article 370.
“This truly represents the dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of an integrated India,” he added.
