Itanagar: AAS Carried out Cleanliness Drive at Jully

Ajing Arum Society ( AAS ), organized a cleanliness drive at Jully garbage dumping area with a theme ‘Clean Arunachal Green Arunachal’ on Thursday.
The zone is the place where garbage from the nearby area is being dumped. Located alongside the National Highway, it is without a proper boundary wall.
Speaking to the media persons, Ajing Arum Society Chairman Taba Topu said that for many years the people has been throwing garbage at that particular zone and has not been properly cleaned and maintained, causing air pollution while foul smell emanates from the area. “Members of Ajing Arum Society and youths of Jully area have managed to clean the area today,” he said and requested the State government to construct a better dumping ground on the outskirts of the Jully Village.
Meanwhile, the Ajing Arum Society Secretary Byabang Noah has urged the Department of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) to maintain cleanliness in the area even though Jully Village comes under rural area . He rued the fact that the dumping area is located near the national highway and at the entry point to the Daath Village .
“Visitors visiting the Village have to pass through this road along the dumping areas, and it poorly reflects on the residents of the locality,” he said. They also urged the people settled in nearby area not to dump wastage in the dumping ground as it may cause harmful diseases.
