Arunachal: Explore the Mines and Mineral Deposits in the State- Chowna Mein ask officials

State Govt will reap a benefit of Rs 6 Cr as royalty  from 32.02 hectare (3 lakh MT coal reserve) and Rs 54 Cr from 94.63 hectare (27 lakh MT coal reserve) from Namchik-Nampuk Coal Mine if the project is take off.

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein in a meeting with the Officers of Geology & Mining and  Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development & Trading Corporation Limited this evening had asked them to explore the Mines and Mineral Deposits in the State.

He said, “our own State resources need to be tapped at any cost and Mining & Mineral Resources is one of the riches in the State,”. He further asked the department to provide a prospective budget by specifying the potential areas in the State which he assured to allocate to the department.

He also informed that the State Govt allocated a sum of Rs 32.00 Crore to the Department of Geology & Mining, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh for payment of additional levy to the Ministry of Coal, Govt of India.  The allocation of the said amount was announced in his budget speech in the recently concluded budget session.

Earlier, Director of Geology & Mining, T Tallar informed that the Ministry of Coal, Govt of India in the year 2014 demanded for making the payment of additional levy imposed by the Supreme Court of India from the APMDTCL. He said that the payment of the additional levy has to be paid in any circumstances to avoid attracting contempt of Supreme Court and avoid any further litigation.

He further informed that it is only after the payment  of additional levy by the State Govt that the APMDTCL will able to request the Ministry of Coal for re-allotment of the mines and the APMDTCL will be eligible to participate in any ensuing e-auction of local block in the country or may seek re-allocation of Namchik-Nampuk Coal Mine.

He further informed that the State Govt will reap a benefit of Rs 6 Cr as royalty  from 32.02 hectare (3 lakh MT coal reserve) and Rs 54 Cr from 94.63 hectare (27 lakh MT coal reserve) from Namchik-Nampuk Coal Mine if the project is take off.

Among others, Y W Ringu, Secretary Finance and Anupam Tangu, Advisor to DCM were also present in the meeting.
