NHPC-RKMH organises free eye checkup camp

The NHPC, RKMH & GHS have jointly organised a one day long free eye check up camp in a remote village of Papum Pare district on Tuesday. Among 340 registered patients, 66 underwent eye screening, 13 received free eye glasses while 11 cataract cases were referred to RKMH for operation .
The camp, conducted jointly by National Hydro-Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC), Ramakrishna Hospital and Mumbai-based ‘Mission for Vision’ saw hundreds of men, women and children, mostly poor and needy, making beeline.
Papum Pare SP Tume Amo, in his inaugural address, lauded the initiative to offer much needed health care in this village. On his suggestion for more such free camp and awareness programmes in other remote villages, NHPC ED Ronel Kumar consented instantly.
The camp was conducted by RKMH’s 10-member team led by senior ophthalmologist Dr Lobsang Tsetim assisted by while NHPC team including DyCMO Dr Abu Taba and Dr BJ Nath (Subansiri Lower Project), CO Tana Babu and Assam-Arunachal Boundary Peace committee general secretary Gyamar Sikap.
