Kargil Vijay Diwas : Arunachal Governor Pay homage to Kargil war heroes
Itanagar
The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) paid tributes to the gallant Indian Army soldiers who fought in the Kargil war on the occasion of Kargil vijay Diwas.
In his message, the Governor said that “On proud occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Day), I salute the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of our gallant Indian Army soldiers who from 5th May to 26th July 1999 valiantly fought at the high altitude, snow bound areas of Kargil mountains in Jammu and Kashmir to liberate the Indian territory from the Pakistan Army, who had perfidiously occupied the bunkers on the top of the mountains during the thinning out period of the Indian Army units. The vigour and valour of the Indian Army in the Kargil War has been unparalleled and whole nation stands beholden to the Kargil Heroes of the Indian Army”.
The Governor further said that Kargil Day is observed to mark the end of the Kargil War on 26th July 1999. The Kargil war was fought on the highest battle field of the world. Our brave soldiers fought with grit and guts for the territorial integrity of the Nation. On 26th July 1999, The Indian Army Carried the Day having conquered back all the outposts that had been surreptitiously occupied by Pakistani intruders. On that fateful Day, each and every Pakistani soldier on the Indian soil in Kargil was either killed or forced to flee the battle ground in disgrace.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to pay homage to those Kargil war heroes, who “gave their today for our tomorrow”. On this day we stand in salute to those martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice and have secured for our Kargil brethren free existence and peaceful life, the Governor said.
I join my fellow citizens of Arunachal Pradesh in paying our tribute to the plucky and fearless soldiers of Mother India, who stood firm on their line of duty and are no more with us. I am sanguine that our great nation will continue to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of those brave hearts. May the Martyrs of Kargil war ever live in our memory, the Governor wished in his message.
