Rajbhawan Indoor Badminton stadium in pathetic condition, players sought immediate attention of government.
Itanagar
The Rajbhawan Indoor Badminton stadium is in bad shape and in pathetic condition. The players appeal the Arunachal state Badminton Association (ASBA), sports department and the authority of Rajbhawan to pay kind attention for repairing and maintenance of the badminton court.
The players who use to play at Rajbhawan allege that for month together the badminton court was occupied by Central armed police force who were occupying the premise and we players have to suffer a lot for daily practice. They urge upon the authority concern for immediate repairing and maintenance of the said badminton court.
Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) Honorary Secretary, Bamang Tago when contacted , said that the premise were occupied by CAPF as they were deployed in various parts of capital complex for law and order duty but after the intervention of governor and Home Minister it have been freed.
Today I meet Minister of Sports and youth affairs Mama Natung and informed him about the status of this Badminton court. and he will take up the matter urgently for repairing of the Badminton. 50 students and others are practising the day to day intensive coaching badminton who will play the zonal championship junior national and many upcoming BAI calendar events Tago informed.
The Raj Bhawan Indoor Badminton Stadium having (02) two courts is one and alone run by the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) since 1994. This court has produced many national & international players who have represented the state and country. Needless to mentioned, many important tournaments like North East Zonal Inter State Badminton Championships, All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament and state’s mega event Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Open Badminton Championships were conducted in this court only.
More than 50 (fifty) kids under the age category of 09, 11, 13 & 15 years including senior players are practising in daily basis under the supervision of ASBA’s Chief coach Dilip Gurung. Since the dilapidated condition of court has severely affecting the regular coaching programs of the players due to lack of coordination and lack of maintenance by the present incumbency committee. The present committee have been dissolved and further the said court will be directly managed and look after by ASBA. Tago added.
