Itanagar: Khandu inaugurates Nyishi Indigenous Art and Cultural Hall

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the Nyishi Indigenous Art and Cultural Hall in presence of Guest of Honour Hayuliang MLA Dasanglu Pul.  Also present were Minister for Dept of Indigenous Affairs Nabam Rebia, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and other dignitaries.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the 100 KVA distribution transformer sub-station and high mast light here at Nyedar Namlo.

In his address, the CM paid tribute and respect to former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul towards his contribution for construction of the Art and Cultural Hall.

The Chief Minister assured full support of the government for further construction of Nyishi Archives cum Community Hall here at the academic block of the Nyedar Namlo premises. He also assured funds for construction of necessary RCC protection walls for protection of building premises from landslides.

Speaking on cultural preservation, the CM said the root of culture lies in language preservation and urged everyone to put emphasis on it.

He said the govt is taking all necessary steps in supporting the community for preservation of languages by implementing local tribal languages as third language in govt schools. He also said govt is always ready to support community based organizations in their effort in language preservation.

The CM said for him more than the standard of education for his children, what concerns him is that the children must be able to imbibe the local culture and language in their daily life. For that they must be assimilated in their own society to understand their culture better. If they are confident as an individual and have pride in their culture, then they can excel in any field, said the CM.

The Chief Minister further emphasized on the role of women in culture preservation. He said since women have great influence in family, and it’s them who should play lead role in promotion and preservation of their local culture.

Earlier Dasanglu Pul in his speech thanked the Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society for remembering the contribution of late Pul towards construction of Nyishi Art and Cultural Hall and inviting her on the inaugural function.

Nabam Rebia, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and NIFCS President Pai Dawe also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier the Chief Minister handed over a memento and appreciation letter to Dr Biman Natung for donating land for Nyedar Namlo.
