Itanagar: Admin raids in Gandhi Market, seized 150 kg single use plastic bags
Around 150 Kg of single use plastic were sized while around 22 shops were shut down for few hours for conducting legal formalities.

Capital district administration carried out raids in Gandhi Market today and seized 150 kg of single use plastic bags from several shops and warned them not to use single use plastic in views of ban on it in all over the country and state as well.
The raids were carried out by Capital Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Dakli Gara, Circle Officer (CO) Likkha Radh, Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom.
Around 150 Kg of single use plastic were sized while around 22 shops were shut down for few hours for conducting legal formalities. Warning, advice and awareness were given away to several shopkeepers of Gandhi Market so that they do not use single use plstic in future , in view of appeals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Chief Minister Pema Khandu for plastic free environment .

EAC, CO and SDPO while talking to this reporter inform that today raid was basically to create awareness among the shopkeeper and consumers so that they avoid using the single use plastic and adopt several other way and method.
Such more raids will be conducted in several parts of capital complex. Trio appeal the general public to support the business communities and administration to free the state from single use plastic.
