Hangpan Dada sacrificed his today for our tomorrow- Chowna Mein

“I salute the great soul of Ashok Chakra Awardee Havildar Hangpan Dada as he sacrificed his today for our tomorrow” said the Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein while attending the Closing Ceremony of the State Level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball Tournament as the chief guest at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.
While lauding Chief Minister Pema Khandu for renaming the erstwhile Chief Minister Football & Volleyball Trophy as Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball Trophy, Mein said that Trophy is a tribute to the great soul for his supreme sacrifice. Dada will be remembered for years to come as an inspiration for the youths for his unparalleled sacrifice and bravado, said the Deputy Chief Minister.
He also said that state govt is committed to develop games & sports along with other developments in the state.
He offered floral tribute to Late Hangpan Dada before the start of the final football match (men) and also prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.
The final football(men) match of the first State Level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball Tournament was played between Upper Subansiri and East Kameng district today to commemorate the first death anniversary of Late Hangpan Dada.
Nyamar Karbak, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports & Youth Affairs informed that more than 2 lakhs youths from 21 districts including Capital Complex participated in the month long tournament.
He also said that the state govt will come up with a Sports Policy soon to streamline and promote games & sports in the state. He stated that Games & Sports apart from a recreational activity, it is also a source of income for the sportsmen & women in today’s world.
Among others, Kumar Waii, Minister Home and RWD, Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning & Investment and Personnel, Karya Bagang, Parliamentary Secretary for Textiles & Handicrafts, Dikto Yikar, MLA, Bamang Tago, Chairman, Sports Authority of Arunachal Pradesh, Dani Salu, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs were also present on the occasion.
The Football(Men) Final was won by Upper Subansiri beating East Kameng 3-0.
The dignitaries gave away the Trophies and Prizes to the winners of Football (Men & Women) and Volley Ball (Men & Women) and the best players in each categories of the tournament.
“The Winning Teams received a cash prize of Rs 5 Lakhs in Football (Men & Women) while Runner up teams received Rs 3 Lakhs.
In Volley Ball, Winning Teams and the Runner up teams received a cash prize of Rs 2 Lakhs and Rs 1 Lakh respectively in both the categories while the best players got a cash prize of Rs 10,000/- each.”
DCM lowered the flag to mark the end of the first State Level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball Tournament in the Closing Ceremony.
