Bongaigaon Diocese Distributes goats to Widows

Believers Church Diocese of Bongaigaon today observed the International Widow Day at Jitpur playground in  Karigaon and as part of the community service has distributed 50 goats to 50 widow beneficiaries from six villages of Kokrajhar and Chirang district.

The Believers Church led by Dr. KP Yohannan, places a strong emphasis on nation building activities such as uplifting the less fortunate section of society by giving them some means for generating income like adult literacy classes, Tailoring skill, live-stock etc.

The beneficiaries were from Jitpur, Bashbari, Bosingpara, Moslapara, Bishmuri, Gobinagar under Kokrajhar district and Runikhata from Chirang district.

Smt. Surki Tudu said “  I am from Jitpur village, my husband passed away 3 years back suffering from Asthma, today I am a lonely lady with 3 children and I faced extreme difficulties  to meet the needs of my children. Today believers’ church giving a goat is a great gift for me. I will rear it and it will help me one day”.

Similarly Smt. Bilasi Basumatary said, “I am from Lakhipur Bishmuri village, my husband died seven years back. I am with my son but even with the two of us, there is no source of income. So this goat that I am getting from  the Believers’ church will a be great help now for income generating.”

On the occasion, Rev. Fr. Ajay Tulsiary, said “widowhood is not only a physical condition of a woman but they also suffer a lot of social stigma from the so-called society. Our Believer’s Church led by Dr. KP Yohannan, the Metropolitan is giving a great importance in uplifting the poor widows’ economic condition”.

On the occasion Rev. Fr. Ajay Tulsiary, the Vicar General Janosh Borgoyary, the office manager Dn Balendra Basumatary, Miss Renu Goyary and Miss Alisha Barju the sisters of Compassion workers and head of the Jitpur village were present.
