Arunachal: General conference of Central Longte festival committee held

The General conference of Central Longte Committee(CLC) was held at HRV Conference hall, Naharlagun on 29th December 2018. The Nyishi Art & Culture welfare society (NACWS) representative Runka Cheda launched the website of Longte Festival: www.longtefestival.in. He was accompanied by renowned artist Neelam Pope.
Chairman of CLC Lokam Kani presided over the conference while Amit Bengia made triennial report of CLC 2016-18 through power point presentation. Outgoing General Secretary highlighted the success stories and challenges in promotion of oldest Festival of the community.
He informed that CLC was the first amongst all the festival committees of the state to discourage accepting of gifts in cash or kind from the Chief Guest / Guest of honour during the festival since 2011.
He also informed that Longte festival does not involve any bloodshed by sacrificing animal and birds during the festival season. He appealed one and all to maintain social Taboos associated with Longte festival.
Later house unanimously approved the recommendation of search committee headed by Tarh Tabin for the post of Chairman Chera Sanjeev, Vice-chairman Pawan Bagang, General Secretary Lokam Mangha and Assistant General Secretary Tadar Zaman for the session 2019-21 of Central Longte committee. The rest of the office bearers shall be appointed in consultation with Nyishi festival Council (NFC) within a fortnight.
The daylong conference was marked with brainstorming session on adoption of bye-law and debate on finding ways and means to promote and preserve Nyishi common cultural legacy. The delegates from different walks of life participated in the deliberation and the community feast.
