A meeting was held at Legislative Assembly Bhawan, Aizawl attended by Members of Committee-1 of Mizoram Legislative Assembly represented by Sh. P C Zoramsanliana, MLA, Kolasib and Sh. N K Chakma, MLA Talabung, Lunglei and other representatives of Home department, Police Officials, Govt. construction agencies and BSF delegation led by Sh. Narinder Singh Jamwal, Inspector General Mizoram & Cachar Frontier to discuss matters related to Indo-Bangladesh Border works and other related issues.
The subject meeting ended with fruitful discussions on various aspects of Border fencing, border roads, Border flood lights and composite border out posts. At the outset, Sh. PC Zoramsanliana, chairman, extended warm welcome to the BSF delegation and thereafter sought to know the details of border works on Indo-Bangladesh border being undertaken by the construction agencies engaged for the purpose. While elaborating the detail of works, IG, BSF informed about the agencies that are engaged in construction of border works and their present status of construction work in Border areas.
Inspector General BSF briefed the august house about the deployment of BSF, present security scenario, infrastructure, development works in Border areas, welfare projects undertaken for border population by BSF. Further on being requested by the chair about the BSF assistance on generating employment for border youth including unemployed women of border areas and creating other infrastructure for socio economic development of the border population, IG assured the house that BSF will extend all possible assistance in guiding youths belonging to border areas on above aspects. He further apprised about the various skill development programmes being run by BSF in Assam and assured that same practice would be introduced in Mizoram, so that border youths could take advantage of this facility.
