The mortal remains of Nabam Runghi was laid to rest at Yupia, with full state honour on Tuesday.

The Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) extend deep anguish in the sudden demise of Late Nabam Runghi, one of the first generation leaders, social reformer and pious Christian leader. He was the first Agency Councillor of NEFA days and during his tenure played pivotal role in shaping Arunachal Pradesh. He was the main leader in establishing the Itanagar capital of Arunachal. But sad part is that he doesn’t posses a single piece of land in Itanagar.
The APTOA appeal the state government to recognise his selfless service by naming some government institution or establishment under his name to honour and give respect to the great man. APTOA also pray to the Almighty God to give comfort to the bereaved family members and may the great departed soul of Lt Nabam Runghi Rest in Eternal Peace.
APCC president Takam Sanjoy, in his message, termed him as a pioneer and social leader, who led the society for a brighter future. An era has ended with his passing away and the GenNext should take lessons from his ideals to become willing partners of state building, he said in a statement.
Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association ( APCA ) has shocked & condoles the sudden demise of Nabam Runghi, Ex-Agency Councillor (NEFA) on November 18. A release issued by its General Secretary Nabam Pekhi said that the catholic family will remember his novel works for state of Arunachal Pradesh during his life.

We the people of the state have lost a renowned social worker, perfect gentlemen, visionary community leader who dedicated his life for the welfare of people of the Arunachal Pradesh.
