Arunachal: Government College Doimukh celebrates VIth Annual College Day

The VIth Annual College Day Celebration began today at Government College  Doimukh. The programme was attended by former CM Nabum Tuki, and Prof. Tomo Riba, Registrar-in-charge, Rajiv Gandhi University,  as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The student participants of the programme are divided into four houses named after the newly created districts- Lepa Rada, Kamle,Pakke Kesang and Shi Yomi.

Nabam Tuki, began his speech by offering shraddhanjali to Lt. Indira Gandhi on the occasion of National Integration Day. He encouraged the students to make best use of such programmes where they could discover their hidden talents and find platforms to showcase their skills. He asked the College authorities to invite parents and guardians of the students in such programmes.

While emphasising the essence of education, he stressed upon the role of teachers and institutions in imparting quality education and not to just amass quantity of students. In his speech he also said that education should reach out to all who desire to go for further studies and that internet facilities should be extensively used to connect with other colleges and universities to meet with the shortage of subject teachers.

He also mentioned  that there should be compulsory Skill Development Programs in all the educational institutions of the state. While addressing the grievances submitted to him by the general secretary Mr. Nabam Gania, he promised to forward the same to Hon’ble CM and Education Minister and other concerned officers to look into the matter.

Prof. Tomo Riba gave his assurance for permanent affiliation and asked the College authorities to furnish all the required documents at the earliest. He advised the students not to adopt bad habits but to make discipline their breath, be attentive and sincere in obtaining knowledge, to try to achieve great feats and to endeavour to be the  best.

In his Welcome address, Dr. M.Q. Khan,  Principal, Government College Doimukh, expressed his gratitude to  Nabam Tuki for contributing tremendously for the growth and development of the college for the past six years and acknowledged that the college is his brain child. He also expressed hope in his efficiency for future contribution while updating the issues relating to the College like shortage of infrastructure, treated drinking water supply, shortage of faculty members.

The college is without a gate and boundary wall which allows trespassers and stray animals within the campus. He added that this problem has to be addressed as early as possible as there have been thefts inside the campus due to the absence of proper boundary wall and gate. He also appraised over the construction of hostels for the students and accommodation quarters for Principal , Teaching and non teaching staff.
