Addressing the reporters today here at Arunachal Press Club, UAIPF President Laffe Paffa inform that it is disheartening to know that our union minister for Home in his recent visit to Assam has announced that the contentious CAB-2016 may be taken up by the ruling BJP government. We will never support this Bill and the indigenous people of state and region should come forward and fight against the decision to pass this Bill.
He informed that to oppose the CAB a mass meeting of various indigenous organisations of the region was held at Aizwal and ‘ North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEPIF)’ was formed . UAIPF got four seats in its executive committee, again the meeting of NEPIF was held at Kohima on 25th and 26th September and a decision was arrived to protest and opposed any move of the central government to bring back the Bill in Parliament for discussion and further approval.
If approved it will change the demography of the Northeast and it is totally against the wish of the indigenous people of the region.
We will carry symbolic protest and appeal one all likeminded indigenous citizens of state to support their democratic movement against the CAB in the greater interest of the region.
He also criticise the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Hindi language imposition and the issue of UNDRIP (United Nation Declaration on Rights of Indigenous people 2007.
We demand immediate withdrawal of CAB-2016 and condemn the statement given by Amit Shah and Himanta Biswa sarma recently in Assam on CAB, he said.
We have resolved to began with democratic protest in the entire region which began from October 3 onwards. It would be a public protest and would be a beginning of democratic protest against CAB. He appeal all to support the movement. Paffa added.
