Itanagar: CBOs, NGOs Opposed CAB

In continuation of ongoing Consultative Committee Meeting on Citizenship Amendment Bill( CAB), Home Minister, Bamang Felix, who is the Chairman of the committee held a meeting with all the representatives, heads of the various CBOs under the umbrella of AITF and other NGOs of the state here at DK Convention centre to seek views, opinions and suggestions on the issue.
While expressing opinions and suggestions and submitting representations to the Chairman, all of them ( CBOs, NGOs, strongly opposed the CAB and vowed to protect the rights of the indigenous people of the state.
The meeting was attended by the representatives by all the CBOs affiliated under AITF and representatives, NIHRO, APWWS, APACC, ACR etc.
In response to all the views, opinions expressed and representations put forwarded by the AITF on behalf of CBOs, and NGOs the Chairman & Home Minister Felix said that the views of all stakeholders would be taken into consideration for the recommendation which will put forward to GOI.
Felix appealed all the stakeholders to be a partner of the state government to make Arunachal Pradesh a most peaceful, progressive and a stable state in the country under young and dynamic leadership of the present Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

AITF Chairman Bengia Tolum while talking to media person said that ” we cannot stop the CAB but there should be a protective measure which we demanded BEFR Act-1873 and Chin Hill Act-1896 that should be incorporated in the CAB’ now it is a regulation and it should be converted to Act.
Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Community Confederation (APACC) Chairman Taba Taku informed that “we have given four points to the committee. He said that statehood act granted to us under article 371 (H) is inconclusive and fractured or unfavorable for indigenous community of state where the rights on forest, wildlife, mines and minerals are in the hand of central government. What is the meaning of being a protected state where our own rights on natural resources are not with us. He demanded that the article 371 (H) must be re-amended at par with article 371 (A) which will further enhance our patriotism toward the country.
Arunachal Citizen Right (ACR) Chairman Bamang Tago said “we oppose in toto. If CAB is brought we have demanded the incorporation of BEFR, Chin hill act etc should be recognized by constitution until we will continue to oppose”.
Nefa Indigenous Human Right organization, (NIHRO) Chairman Domin Loya said that ” We are already facing refugees problem of Chakma-Hajong etc.
GOI must be give guarantee for our indigenous protection, unless we will never except it. We are much patriotic people and GOI should know it. We want our right and privilege on natural resources like Mizoram etc” Loya added.
