11th T Chai Memorial Running Football Tournament 2018 kicks off in a colourful note here at the Jubilee ground in the midst of Minister Sports & Youths Affairs Dr Mohesh Chai, Dasanglu Pul MLA Hayuliang, Karma Leki DC, DW Thongon SP Lohit, former Minister Nakul Chai, Head of the Departments, the member from Chai family, student from Krick & Boury Memorial School, teams and general public.

While inaugurating the tournament as chief guest, Dasanglu Pul MLA recalled the praiseworthy deeds of Late T Chai who contributed immensely for establishment of Tezu Township. “Late Chai contribution will always be an epitome and inspiration for the Mishmi community. This football tournament kicked off today to promote football among the youth is a greatest homage to him”, she speaks. The MLA further advised the youth to opt football as career where govt has allotted 10% job quota.

DC as a guest of honour extended gratitude to the Chai family for promoting football tournament in youths. He also appealed them to play in true sportsmanship spirit and maintain discipline to prove them a better player.

Nakul Chai in his welcome address also extended deep gratitude to the entire teams for their active participation to make the tournament successful.

Overll 29th football teams from Namsai, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Lohit and Sadiya (Assam) are participating in the 15 days knock out tournament from 25th Sept – 09 Oct and final will be played on 12th Oct next. The teams have been divided into four groups.

Meanwhile, in the today’s keenly fought opening match United Loiliang FC thrashed out HASC Namsai by 2 – 1 goals. In the tomorrow first match Danglat FC Verses Wakro Town Club and second match in between Mao – Tai FC and Khoraba FC respectively will be played.  The tournament is being organized by the Chai family in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youths Affair Lohit district.
