Arunachal: NDRF Launches Disaster Management Training to NYKS Volunteers
A total of 20 blocks have been allocated to the 12th BN NDRF, Doimukh with a number of 600 trainees, covering Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland.

The 12th Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Doimukh has officially launched the Disaster Management Training programme under the pilot project on creating block level disaster response team of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) today here at the battalion.
In view of disaster risk reduction and to enhance capacity of volunteers, disaster management teams of NDRF will impart training to NYKS youth volunteers on batch wise in all 12 battalions of NDRF in the country.
A total of 20 blocks have been allocated to the 12th BN NDRF, Doimukh with a number of 600 trainees, covering Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland.
The disaster management training will be provided for 6 six working days for each batch, with an intake of 30 volunteers per batch. Training for the first batch has been started today with the intake of NYKS volunteers from Thoubal district block of Manipur.
Training for next batch will be conducted for volunteers from Pasighat block from September 9 onwards.
In the training, subjects like Medical First Response (MFR), Search and Rescue, Flood Rescue and Miscellaneous will be covered to give them hands on handling any kinds of disasters; so that they can provide immediate assistance as first responders during the hour of disaster response and rescue.
In the induction ceremony of the training programme, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) exhorted about the importance of imparting the knowledge and skills amongst the public to help as well as to instruct others in hour of any disaster in locality.
He emphasized on the need to provide courses on disaster management in schools and universities, to give firsthand knowledge to students who in turn can be disseminate any knowledge to parents and elders in villages.
He advised the NYKS volunteers, be mediators once they leave the training camp.
“Learn as many skills and knowledge as you can and share your experience with others when you return to your own place. The more you share, the more fruitful the training will be,” added Saket.
He also extended appreciation to the NDRF jawans for their notable jobs and service they have been rendering for the public.
Singh, State Director of NYKS also asked the volunteers to give full interest and commitment in the training and advised them to have enthusiasm to learn.
“Do not attend just for the sake of attending and do not focus on only getting a certificate. Attend it to learn something new so that you can help others in the need of hour,” added Singh.
He further asked them to make the best use of the facilities provided to them in the training.
