Guwahati
The legal battle of two IPS officer of Assam Police came in public domain. Yesterday Additional Director General of Police (Communication), Assam, R Chandanathan has alleged ” that a section of senior police officers trying to tarnish his public image” and today another IPS officer Anurag Agarwala issued a press release stating that ” I am forced to state the following facts in public domain due to false, concocted and misleading press statement given by one of my senior colleague”.
Agarwala mentioned in his press release that ” I have filed a complaint against Mr Chandranathan in the Judicial Court, Silchar who directed the Silchar Police Station to register a criminal case against Mr Chandranathan under various sections of IPC. Over the years, Mr Chandranathan has misused his official position and committed many illegalities, suppression of correct facts etc. and submitted false reports against me with sole motive to hamper my career prospects. He opened vigilance enquiry against me on false pretext and concocted facts which could not withstand the judicial scrutiny. Vide judgement and order dated 01-04-2015 in W.P ( C) 2953/2013, the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court not only quashed the vigilance enquiry conducted by him but also made adverse observations like that “ the said enquiry was malafide and the enquiry report was blatantly contrary to the actual facts”.

It was also mentioned in the press release that ” Further , again to harass me Mr Chandranathan was instrumental in registration of Panbazar Police Station Case No.77/2015 on the same subject matter which was quashed by the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court vide judgement and order in W.P (C) 2953/13. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department also suppressed registration of Panbazar Police Station Case No. 77/15 from the Hon’ble High Court in the Affidavit filed by them in March, 2015 just prior to the final outcome of the W.P (C) 2953/13. Again, self moved to the Hon’ble High Court in form of criminal petition 595/2915 who quashed the Panbazar Police Station Case No.77/15 vide judgement and order dated 20-11-2015. and again the Hon’ble High Court made adverse observations that “ this said case is registered on the same subject matter which has already been quashed in W.P(C) 2953/13 and continuance of this case can not serve any other purpose except undue harassment of the officer and abuse of process of Court “.
Mr Agarwala mentioned in his press release that ” I stand with my complaint petitions against Shri Chandranathan. Each and every word of my complaints against Shri Chandranathan is true and based on the above mentioned judgements of the Hon’ble High Court and other documentary evidences “
