Arunachal: ‘Rangmanch’ Workshop Ends with Stage Performance at APU

A 15-day drama workshop at Arunachal Pradesh University concludes with a stage performance rooted in local cultural narratives.

PASIGHAT- 15-day drama workshop titled “Rangmanch: Dream, Drama, Discovery” concluded at Arunachal Pradesh University with a valedictory programme held at the Academic Block on April 1.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Hindi in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS), East Siang Unit, and began on March 17. It culminated in a stage performance titled “Retracing Abotani: Tales and Memories from the Past,” based on the novel Junglee Phool by Joram Yalam Nabam.

The performance was attended by faculty members, students, and invited guests, and reflected the outcomes of the training programme aimed at promoting theatre culture among students. The workshop focused on encouraging creativity, cultural awareness, and self-expression through drama.

University Registrar Narmi Darang, addressing the gathering, appreciated the quality of the performance and encouraged students to continue participating in such activities. He also indicated that the university would consider supporting similar initiatives in the future.

President of APLS East Siang Unit, Ponung Ering Angu, highlighted the broader role of drama workshops in understanding human behaviour, emotions, and social relationships, describing them as valuable learning platforms for young participants.

Workshop mentor Goge Bam commended the dedication of the participants and expressed satisfaction with the overall outcome of the programme. She emphasised the importance of sustaining such creative engagements.

Mass Communication faculty member Kombong Darang noted that the workshop contributed to personality development among students, observing that participants who were initially hesitant gained confidence to perform on stage.

Participants also shared their experiences, stating that the workshop helped them discover new skills and build confidence through acting, teamwork, and interactive learning sessions.

The programme also featured a group dance performance by students of the Hindi Department, followed by closing remarks from Dr Ing Perme, Head of the Hindi Department and programme coordinator.

Organisers stated that such initiatives aim to foster cultural engagement while providing students with platforms to explore artistic expression and personal development.
