Arunachal:  Koloriang under tense ahead of re-poll 

The polling team,  officials and security personnels were stopped by hundreds of miscreants and the EVM was also damaged.


21 Koloriang Assembly constituency tensed again ahead of the fresh-poll for Nampe polling station on Tuesday May 21. Re-poll is scheduled for May 21 from 6 AM  to 2 PM.

The polling team comprise of a circle officer, Dy SP and other official moved for 28 Nampe Polling station via Parsi Parlo was obstructed and stopped on Sunday, informed District Election  Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner Kurung Kumey district Santosh Kumar Rai .

The motorable road is upto Pagam Via Parsi Parlo and then by foot-march to Nampe and the polling team,  officials and security personnels were stopped by hundreds of miscreants and the EVM of parliamentary constituency and assembly constituency was also damaged before reaching Langbang at night.

Another road opening party (ROP) led by a Dy SP also could not move due to road blockage by cutting down  of dozens of huge trees near Yumlam and the team come back to headquarter. Due to which another team was constituted and they left by other route and it is expected that the team may reach the destination and polling may takes place smoothly. Other preparation have already been done so that no problem takes place at Nampe polling station. Rai said.

Information was received that the miscreants have used fire arms and lethal weapon and several rounds of bullets were also fires, however no polling officers were harmed. Rai added.

Meanwhile IGP and Nodal Officer (Election) Sunil Garg while briefing the reporters at Police Headquarter (PHQ) said that polling party of Nampe Polling station was obstructed and stopped from performing their duty and manhandled and strict action will be taken.

There are sufficient security forces in Koloriang and at present there are Seven Company of CRPF and civil police deployed. Several. Check nakas have been established. Road opening party is also working, while security have also be kept near all bridge. point.

He further appeal all the contesting candidate to cooperate in smooth conducting of the re poll on Tuesday. Anyone who want for help and support from police will also be given but in systematic way so that there is no law and order problem takes place any way.

At Gimba in Tali there is sufficient force and hope that the polling at both Nampe and Gimba takes place smoothly without any disturbances. IGP said.
