Arunachal: drivers should abide by traffic rules- DTO Wangsu

Members of the City Service Maxicab Association (CSMA) on Wednesday took a pledge to abide by the laid down traffic rules and regulations and to promote the same among the masses.
The oath was administered upon the CSMA members by Capital Complex district transport officer, Chakfa Wangsu on the sidelines of the 5th general conference cum election of the CSMA which was held at a city hotel here.
Addressing the gathering, Wangsu advised the CSMA members to be well versed with the traffic rules and follow them in letter and spirit.
“Road transportation is one of the vital links that facilitates productivity which in turn leads to rapid economic development of a state and country. Also well-trained professional drivers are the backbone of every supply chain and a lot depends upon them. So it is the duty of the drivers to be professional and follow traffic rules at all times and also make people aware of the same,” the DTO said.
Further acknowledging the effort put in by Capital SP Tumme Amo to cope with the traffic congestion in the twin capital, Wangsu urged upon the public to corporate with the administrators for better results.
He further spoke about the dos and don’ts one needs to follow while driving and also in regards to parking their vehicles.

The DTO also said stressed on the creation of more parking lots in the Capital Complex of which he was confident that it would contribute in reducing traffic congestion to a large extent. Wangsu, at the same time appealed all to make use of the existing parking areas.
AAPPTF president Dobing Sonam said that besides selecting/electing a capable team to lead the CSMA, the day’s programme was primarily focused on spreading awareness about traffic rules among the association members as well as to give out valuable instructions about the dos and don’ts while driving.
“It should be always be in the minds of the drivers to drive safe, be well versed with the traffic rules for the safety of the passengers, as well as to reach back home safely to the families at the end of the day,” said Dobing.
Taking opportunity, Sonam informed that the AAPPTF would soon submit a memorandum to the chief minister for creation of a labour welfare like board for the members of the transport federation so that several aspects in regards to their and their family’s health, children’s education etc are secured.
Meanwhile, the day saw Toko Tadap, John Diri and Dayum Tacho being elected as the CSMA president, vice-president and general secretary respectively.
