Swachh Survekshan: Mysuru cleanest, Dhanbad dirtiest, while Guwahati got 50th Position

Mysuru is the cleanest of 73 cities and Dhanbad in Bihar is the dirtiest, while Guwahati got the 50th place  in the “seminal” Swachh Survekshan results the government rolled out on Monday.

Chandigarh, Tiruchirapalli, Delhi (NDMC) and Vishakapatnam come right behind Mysuru in the top five “leaders” which have high levels of sanitation and cleanliness. Guwahati got the range of 50%–60% , it meansthat the city need to accelerate their effort.

73 cities surveyed for cleanliness have been categorized based on the marks scored by each of them in the ‘Swachh Survekshan-2016’ survey, results of which were announced by the Urban Development Minister Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu today.

15 cities who scored more than 70% of the total marks of 2000 were categorized as Leaders, 20 cities with scores in the range of 60%-70% are Aspiring Leaders, those with scores in the range of 50%-60% are the cities who need to accelerate their efforts and cities who scored below 50% are named Slow Movers who need to work harder to improve santiation.

.Unveiling the results, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said “a clean India is the most profound statement that the country can make to the world which is keenly watching us.”

Prime Minister Modi launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in 2014 and laid a roadmap for improving the level of sanitation and cleanliness in the country with a vision to create a Clean India by 2019, the 150th birth year of Mahatma Gandhi.
